Botox Cosmetic in Vancouver & Dysport Anti-Aging Treatment

Botox has become the most common non-surgical cosmetic procedure in North America in recent years. Botox injections are safe and effective as it enhances and refreshes your appearance by minimizing fine lines and wrinkles around the eye and forehead. As we age, the elasticity in our skin diminishes and repetitive muscle action locks into a deeper line or furrow.

More and more people are seeking Botox injections as precaution treatment to prevent the process of aging.

What are Botox® and Dysport™?

Botox and Dysport are two different brands of a purified protein, Clostridium Botulinum Toxin Type A, that works by reducing muscle contractions in the face.

Both Botox® and Dysport target one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Dr. Bae will inject these muscles with Botox® or Dysport to temporarily reduce muscle activity. Ultimately, it relaxes the constriction of the muscles resulting in a smoothing effect and softens the line of the wrinkle in your skin for a refreshed and youthful appearance.

Where Can Botox Injection be Used?

Botox Cosmetic® is FDA-approved for use by men and women aged 18 to 65 years, to treat the following “trouble spots”:

  • Frown Lines

o   Wrinkles between the Eyebrows, Glabellar Area/”The Elevens”

o   The crease between the eyebrows can often emit a frustrated and angry expression. Botox injections will soften this area and create a more relaxed look.

  • Forehead Lines

o   Wrinkles of the upper brow can be minimized creating a more rested, relaxed appearance. It may also eliminate migraine and tension headaches.

  • Crows Feet

o   Wrinkles near the eyes

o   The lines around the eyes associated with squinting can be effectively treated with Botox injections. The result will produce a widening of the eye area and a refreshed appearance.

  • Eyebrow Lift

  • TMJ Relief

  • Migraines

  • Under Eyes, Fine Lip Line, Cheeks, Wrinkles around the mouth, sometimes called “smokers’ lines”, Chin Dimple Release, Platysmal bands, or wrinkles across the neck, Neck Jowl Lift, Face Slimming

  • Hyperhydrosis, or excessive sweating from the underarms, hands and/or feet

How Long Does a Botox Treatment Last?

Botox Injections are not a permanent solution for wrinkles and fine lines. The results are temporary and usually last about three to four months, gradually wearing off. At that point and time, the Botox will start to break down naturally and harmlessly. Patients will need maintenance injections every 4 to 6 months if they wish to maintain the appearance.

How Long Does It Take to See Results?

Even though Botox is a very quick procedure, final results will not be immediately visible post treatment. It takes around 5 days to a week’s time for the effects of the Botox treatment to work, resulting with slight reduction of wrinkles and facial lines in the early stages and the final results from Botox being visible after a period of two weeks.

How is Botox Administered and Does It Hurt?

Both Botox® and DysportTM are administered with a very fine needle into the muscles under the skin that produces the wrinkle. Discomfort associated with the treatment is minimal and are usually very well tolerated by most patients.

Each muscle affected requires a specific number of Botox “units” to relax the muscle enough to stop a wrinkle from forming. Botox treatment usually takes less than 10 -15 minutes. The treatment results usually begin to become evident within a few days; however, it can take up to a full 2 weeks to see the final results.

Is Botox Safe?

Botox has a long and well-established safety history. While most people think of Botox as a wrinkle treatment, it has been in use for over 30 years for the effective treatment of a wide range of medical conditions.

In addition, Botox does not have a permanent effect and it is a very safe procedure for anyone with only slight bruising or redness occurring in a few cases.

How much is Botox?

The cost of a Botox treatment varies, based on a few factors. The most important pricing variable is whether the procedure is priced based on the treatment area or by Botox units used. Most clinics in Vancouver charge by the number of units needed in the affected area.

How Much Does a Botox Unit Cost in Vancouver?

The average price for a Botox unit in Vancouver is estimated in the range of between $10 to $20 per unit. The price variance depends on who is administering the treatment.

What Other Factors Affect the Cost of Botox Injection in Vancouver?

The right amount of Botox is not the same for everyone, and the exact number of units for a full treatment is customized for each person individually. Several factors influence the amount of Botox you will need. These factors may include the following:

  • Gender of Patient

  • Age of Patient

  • Area of Treatment

  • Strength of Facial Muscles

  • Depth of Wrinkle

  • Number of Units Required

The goal is to come as close as possible to the optimal amount of Botox units without over-treating an area. The goal of finding the right balance of Botox is to diminish wrinkles while still being able to make normal facial expressions.

Keep in mind that everyone is different – the best way to determine how much Botox you need is to have a personal consultation with Dr. Bae. At your consultation, Dr. Bae will be able to assess which areas can be treated and how many units would be needed to fulfill your desired goals.

How are Botox and Dentistry related?

Botox and Dentistry go hand in hand as dentists have extensive and comprehensive knowledge of musculature and anatomy of the face, head and neck.

They are also accustomed to constantly giving injections to these particular areas.

These skills make dentists the ideal candidate to provide this service.
