Our Hygienists
Our Dental Hygienists, Maria, Colleen, and Christine have combined experience of 75 years! They are highly skilled and trained as well they play an important role in your overall dental health. With their gentle approach, they will listen to your concerns, and will help you develop and maintain a good oral health routine.
Maria
Maria was born and raised in Vancouver and attended the University of British Columbia where she received her Diploma of Dental Hygiene. She has practiced Dental Hygiene for 34 years and has been a dedicated member of the Dunsmuir Dental Team since 1989.
As a life long learner, Maria is proud to be part of a dynamic and evolving profession that brings about positive change in her patients’ lives, and she derives great satisfaction in helping her patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health.
Maria lives with her husband David and two sons, Christopher and Matthew and cherishes opportunities to entertain family and friends. She is an avid sports fan and enjoys the outdoors, cycling, hiking or going for a run.
Colleen
Colleen has been practicing Dental Hygiene at Dunsmuir Dental since 2001 and is a valued member of our dental team. She is passionate about providing excellent dental hygiene care and her goal is to make your dental cleanings as relaxing an experience as possible.
Through years of experience and continuing dental health education, Colleen is dedicated to helping patients achieve and maintain a healthy smile and overall better health. In her spare time, she enjoys movies and trying new restaurants with her husband Peter and daughter Madison.
Christine
Christine’s dental career began when she joined the Dunsmuir Dental Team in 2001. She was a Certified Dental Assistant for seven years before obtaining a Diploma in Dental Hygiene Program from VCC and has enjoyed helping patients achieve and maitain optimum oral health. She strives to provide exceptional care that is gentle, attentive and tailored to each individual’s needs.
Derek
Derek graduated from Vancouver Community College with his Diploma in Dental Hygiene.
After graduation, he worked in Sechelt where he was born and raised, but soon decided to relocate back to Vancouver.
He takes pride in the care he provides to his patients and makes time to explain the “why’s” and “how’s” of dentistry. His calm demeanor puts patients at ease. Being from the Sunshine Coast, he is well acquainted with the outdoors and likes to spend his free time camping, hiking, kayaking, and working out.
Our Patient Care Assistants
Our Patient Care Assistants at Coastal City Dunsmuir Dental go above and beyond in providing assistance, not only to the Dentists, but as well to the patients. They also have extensive training in orthodontics, crown and bridge preparations, and implants. Tais will listen to your dental concerns, and put you at ease during your treatment.
Tais
Born and raised in Brazil, Tais is a passionate traveler who fell in love with Canada during her exchange program when she was only 16 years old. As a 2015 graduate of Dentistry Program in Brazil, Tais loved practicing as a dentist for 4 years before moving permanently to Canada. She finished her master’s degree in business management in Vancouver in 2019. With her training and experience in business management, she loves managing and coming up with creative ideas for our Instagram page.
Tais always strives to provide patients with excellent care and put smiles on their faces.
Our Patient Care Coordinators
Here at Coastal City Dunsmuir Dental, our patient care coordinator team will always be ready to greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome. Hannah and Meghan pride themselves on providing patients with assistance regarding their dental insurance, answering any questions that you may have, as well as coordinating appointments to help fit your busy schedule.
